Collective Memory (Mural)

This project is a documentation of the collective memory of Grandview Highschool’s class of 2021. Many of the colored cells contain imprints of my classmate’s pet’s names, favorite lyrics, and favorite activities. Silhouettes swim through the quilt of memory, circling around the central figure of the creator. The creator’s posture mirrors that of Adam in the Sistine Chapel. In direct contrast to Michelangelo's painting which highlights human sin, my work endows Adam with a paintbrush. He is both G-d and Human. My pantheism is on full display. The creator is in the act of painting one of the cells. He continues to shape the collective memory. The memory of the succeeding classes.
